The Japanese culture is one that I am extremely proud of and I am thankful that I am able to share my heritage through our Japanese food products.
In 1970, when I moved from Japan to Canada there were not many Japanese restaurants or Japanese food-related products available. I wanted to bring Japanese cuisine into Canada, so I began making surimi and kamaboko products for my family and friends. Eventually, the demand for my proprietary blend of surimi grew, and a small family business was formed. In 1980, I started a kamaboko fish cake company. My company became the first producer of surimi in Canada. Today, we still hold on to the vision we started 35 years ago, producing the highest quality surimi products while using as many natural ingredients as possible.
We continue to be at the forefront of a rapidly changing food industry, creating and innovating our products to suit today’s market. All the while, we aim to remain true to our heritage. We have grown, yet we still remain a family-run business, basing our products on our unique blend of surimi. This is why we have remained a trusted name in the Japanese seafood industry to both individual customers as well as to our commercial and industrial clients.
Thank you for making Ocean Food one of the oldest Japanese manufacturing companies in Canada. We look forward to continuing to serve you and the Canadian market our high quality, great tasting seafood products for many more decades.
Sincerely,
Fumihiro (Joe) Nishikaze
